2008 - Company Specialty Dances

*You must do a duet or trio before you do a solo

Duet/Trios

  1. You must have completed one year of performing company before you can do a duet/trio. If you are coming from another studio’s performing team and have already done a duet/trio, we will take that into consideration.
  2. The style of dance you choose to do for your duet/trio needs to be taught to you by the teacher you are being trained with for that dance subject.
  3. You must be in the same dance class as the person you choose to dance with for the duet/trio. (This is subject to change per studio director).
  4. You must be on the same dance level as the person or persons that you choose to dance with. (Sometimes you may be in the same dance class with someone, but not dance on the same level or look the same.)
  5. You must have attended at least one dance seminar.
  6. The studio director must approve all dances and songs.
  7. When your dance is completed you will need to show the studio director. We would like for you to have performed your routine at several shows before it goes to competition.
  8. When your dance is completed you will need to let the office know. We will mark on our calendar that it has been completed so we can start someone else’s.
  9. Note: All dances must be completed 2-3 months before they can go to competition. (This is subject to change per studio director. Some students working ability is different than others.) **You must practice on your own.

*You can only sign up for one specialty dance at a time. This is due to the waiting period for our staff members. You can sign up again one year from the date after you finish your completed routine. This way it gives all company members an equal chance to learn a routine.

Solos

If you are thinking about your child doing a specialty routine this is what you need to do:

  • Sign up in the office with the director in the book for specialty dances.
  • Pick out the teacher you want your child to be taught by
  • Figure out what style of dance you want your child to do
  • Pick out music.  (lot’s, and lots of music and bring it in so that that teacher can listen to it.)
  • Schedule a time to start
